Our Minecraft Adelaide project has attracted some negative criticism. The following article appears on the NITV website:
For my part, there was no ill intent, or deliberate aim to exclude the Kaurna nation, in the work that we have done to date.
Our Minecraft worlds were built in January/February and we chose to release them to the public due to the onset of COVID-19. The intent of this quick release was to give children a fun activity to do in ‘isolation’ during the school holidays.
Our Minecraft worlds are by no means ‘finished products’. Our intent is to publish multiple worlds and to do regular ‘releases’ over time containing new content.
I regret that the early release caused offence, and I am going to work to ensure that the Kaurna nation is appropriately represented and acknowledged in our Minecraft worlds going forward.
