No dialogue.
No branding.
Bit jumpy in places.
Very simple audio track.
But very effective – because it is timely, topical, informational and tells a story.
Some people argue that this sort of product reflects poorly on an organisation’s brand.
I reckon that’s crap.
I don’t think any ‘less’ of the City of Melbourne ‘brand’ for having seen this video.
In fact, I think ‘more’ highly about the City of Melbourne because of its obvious commitment to reconciliation
And they probably produced it in 1-2 hours flat, just for social media.
There’s a place for highly polished video.
There is also a place for much simpler video, too.
Not all of our videos need to be a masterpiece.
Just like Voltaire once said to his junior videographer: ‘producing a perfect video is the enemy of producing a good video’
